Riyad As-Salihin is a compilation of authentic hadiths, compiled by Imam Abu Zakariyya Yahya Ibn Sharaf An-Nawawi, who was born in the village of Nawa, near to Damascus, in 631 A.H. This precious book includes approximately 1900 hadiths reported in the books of hadith, mainly the six major Hadith Collections, and most of these hadiths are to be found in Al-Bukhari and Muslim. Most sections of this book start with the relevant verses from the Noble Qur’an, as an emphasis that the purified Sunnah is an illustration of the Noble Qur’an.
Imam An-Nawawi gathered a small collection of authentic hadiths that involve guidance in one’s way to the Hereafter, including internal and external manners that one should observe. This collection is a compilation of hadiths that encourage goodness and that deter evil and that urge good manners, including hadiths related to abstinence, moral refinement, purification of the heart and the remedy for these defects, along with many other hadiths that embody the objective of the virtuous.
