Born into a strict Christian household in Kenya, Yahya Ondigo was always a man of faith. He went on to join the military, and it was during this time that he was given his first exposure to the Muslim way of life. When his questions about Christian faith were left inadequately answered, and with the help of his elder brother who had recently converted to Islam, Ondigo’s search for the truth led him towards Islam. My Journey from Christianity to Islam is an autobiographical work, charting this faith journey with some reflections on both religions Ondigo made along the way. He discusses discrepancies in the Christian faith, in particular with regards to the position of Jesus Christ (A.S.). He also touches on some of the uplifting discoveries he made about the Islamic faith and way of life. This story follows the increasing trend in modern times of people coming to Islam and also provides an insight for those interested in comparative religion.

As they (Christians) resented the doctrines of Islam and saw them in the light of their own misconceptions, they inevitably deformed them. Anti-Islamic polemic inhibited any possible empathy with Muslims. The main attack on Islam was already determined in the thirteenth century.
Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziah, a contemporary to the outcome of these polemics against Islam, the Age of Decline, did not restrict himself from delivering tit-for-tat replies, and sometimes he went overboard in some of his descriptions equally demeaning the Christians and the Jews.

In his search for explanations which are otherwise difficult to obtain, he learnt Arabic and studied the Qur’an. In it, he was surprised to find statements on natural phenomena whose meaning can only be understood through modern scientific knowledge.
He then turned to the question of the authenticity of the writings that constitute the Holy Scriptures of the monotheistic religions. Finally, in the case of the Bible, he proceeded to a confrontation between these writings and scientific data.
